Santa Maria Valley continues to be a hot destination for golfers

The Santa Maria Valley is becoming increasingly well-known as a popular vacation destination for golfers. The combination of scenic courses, moderate climate, and affordability have insured a yearly return of golf enthusiasts seeking to escape harsh weather and city life.

"We get visitors who are amazed that this place exists," says one local golf course manager. "They can’t believe that they get the clean air, the beautiful trees and hills… and they’re paying half as much for a vacation as they would in a typical resort town."

Affordability is a big factor in the area’s popularity. Not only are green fees very reasonable on average, but accommodations are also well-priced. In addition, many local hotels team up with area golf courses to offer golf packages that make vacations even more affordable.
Santa Maria’s climate and location are also a big plus. With temperatures ranging in 70’s year-round, nearly every day offers ideal weather for golf. Visitors also appreciate Santa Maria’s rural setting and slower pace of life. The lack of smog and traffic alone lures many city dwellers to the area.

The Santa Maria Valley’s variety of attractions proves to be yet another advantage, offering non-golfers in the family something to do. The region boasts top-notch wineries and wine tasting, local restaurants offering a taste of the Old West with authentic Santa Maria Style Barbecue, award-winning theater, and lots of wide open spaces, beaches, scenic trails and wildlife ideal for hiking, biking and sight-seeing. In addition, a short day-trip takes guests to numerous Central Coast attractions like the Danish Village of Solvang, Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, Hearst Castle, and the Chumash Indian Casino in Santa Ynez.
