Putt-Putt launches $100,000.00 miniature golf tournament

Putt-Putt Golf Courses of America, Inc. announces that Fayetteville, NC will be the host city for the $100,000 Professional Putters Association National Putting Championship to be held on July 30th through August 5th, 2000.

The Putt-Putt event is the largest purse offered in a nationally promoted putting tournament.

In addition to the $100,000.00 Championship, PGA TOUR Productions, Inc. and Putt-Putt Golf will produce 4 30-minute TV shows to air on the ESPN network. The ESPN shows will offer $20,000 in prize money, match play competition and will reach 72 million U.S. homes.

Bobby Owens, President of Putt-Putt Golf Courses of America, Inc., pointed out that, "the ESPN network's airing of our tournament validates Putt-Putt as a true sport recognized and played by millions."

The tournament will feature 215 professional and amateur Putt-Putt players from around the world competing for the national putting champion title and the $50,000 first place prize check.

Fayetteville, NC is the birthplace of the now worldwide Putt-Putt franchise system. Since 1959 Putt-Putt has awarded over $7,600,000 in prize money and has annually crowned a national putting champion through its sanctioned tournament tour.

Bobby Owens, President of Putt-Putt, was "overwhelmed by the support that we have received for this putting tournament. Putting is half the game of golf and our company is committed to finding the most talented putter in the world."

Governor Jim Hunt, the N.C. Sports Development Office and local businesses in Fayetteville have unified to bring this annual putting event to the city. The 1999 tournament was hosted in Kissimmee, Fla. when John Napoli, 36, of Clearwater Beach, Fl took the title. Napoli holds the title of only one of two golfers to have scored a perfect "18" for 18-holes of Putt-Putt tournament competition.

Since 1959, Putt-Putt Golf Courses of America, Inc. remains committed to recognizing and rewarding the best putters in the world. Over $7,600,000.00 has been awarded by the company since 1959 to deserving professionals who have proven their talent to putt a golf ball in tournaments run under the rules and regulations of the Professional Putters Association. In this year 2000, our company is elevating the quest of championing the world's greatest putter to a new level. Also see: golf equipment reviews.
