July 09, 2004 By: Tova Laramee Anchorage Golf Course Enjoys Full Course, Longer Days And New ImprovementsStarting May 2004, the Anchorage Golf Course will open all remaining permanent greens for play and enjoy $100,000 in new improvements to the course. cCourse hours will also be extended with tee times available between 5:00 AM and 10:00 PM. Recently play was opened on 15 of 18 regular greens in order to allow the remaining greens to develop properly and insure excellent conditions all season long. Golf course superintendent Ben Koerber and staff have been carefully watching the greens, in hopes of providing the traditional Memorial Day opening. We are very excited to be able to provide the course, in its entirety, so early this year, said Koerber, after such a strong snow year, we were unsure how soon we would be able to open, but all of the greens are in excellent condition and ready for play. This past winter, Alyeska Resort invested $100,000 in improvements to the Anchorage Golf Course adding a fairway mower, carts, and range ball dispenser. These improvements will help us maintain an excellent course as well as add to the overall enjoyment of our guests, said Larry Daniels, Anchorage Golf Course General Manager. We offer the only all grass tees in Anchorage at our driving range and with the convenience of a new self-service range ball dispenser, golfers can tune up their swing under near playing conditions.
