Three Big Ten Women's Programs Advance to NCAA Championship

Michigan State, Purdue and Ohio State have been selected to represent the Big Ten Conference in the 2004 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship.

For the Buckeyes, it marks the program’s seventh consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship and its 14th overall. Ohio State was the League’s top finisher in 2003, capturing fourth place overall for the best NCAA team result in Big Ten women’s golf history. The Buckeyes, coming off a victory in the Big Ten Championships, took sixth in last weekend’s West Regional to earn their berth in this year’s NCAA Championship.

Two Big Ten programs emerged from the Central Regional to move on to the NCAA Championship. Michigan State took third place and Purdue was sixth to give the Conference three teams in the Championship for the second straight year. The Spartans will be making their fourth appearance in five years and their sixth overall. Purdue will be making its fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championships. The Boilermakers captured 12th place as a team in the 2003 event.

The 2004 NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championship will be held at the Grand National Lake Course in Auburn, Alabama; Auburn University will serve as the host. Also see: bargain golf equipment.
