July 10, 2004 By: Alan Glover Giggle Gulch was designed as the mini-golf equivalent to the picturesque golf courses in the Steamboat Springs areaSteamboat Ski Area will unveil Giggle Gulch, a new 18-hole miniature golf course at the base of the mountain, for the Fourth of July weekend. The course was built in response to the growing demand for miniature golf courses at mountain destination resorts and features split level holes and water features, with stunning views of Mount Werner. Giggle Gulch was designed as the mini-golf equivalent to the picturesque golf courses in the Steamboat Springs area – including Catamount Ranch & Club, Haymaker Golf Course, Sheraton Steamboat Golf Club and the Steamboat Golf Club – all of which are recognized for their ambiance, scenic beauty and design variety. With its hand-selected landscape and accessibility to the mountain, Giggle Gulch was created to inspire, challenge and keep its players coming back. Giggle Gulch provides a fun, enjoyable way for beginners to learn the golf game while also challenging the mini-golf experts, said Jim Schneider, Vice President of Skier Services. With a cascading waterfall leading into a weaving system of streams between holes plus a colorful landscape, Giggle Gulch offers something for every golfer. Schneider initiated and designed the course with manufacturer COST of Wisconsin, the industry leader in mini-golf course construction. Steamboat’s Trail, Facility, Slope and Base Area crews constructed, installed and set up the course, headed by slope maintenance director Davie Crisler and ski patrol assistant director Wes Richey. The fourth hole is collectively known as the hardest hole, Schneider said. As a par-2 featuring a two-tired level system, the ball must be hit precisely correct to enter the 'chute' carrying it down to the next level, where the final cup lies. About
