And the 2002 line will bring even more of that. Introducing the Tight Lies GT Fairway Woods and Drivers. Using newly developed technology, we have designed super thin, high C.O.R. And the heel-weighting zone helps square the club face for straighter, more consistent shots. The Tight Lies GT 303 Driver incorporates advanced state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and 455 stainless steel. This allows us to build a 303-cc club head for one of the largest and most forgiving steel drivers available. And the ultra-thin, deep face delivers the maximum legal C.O.R., for superior distance. The new Tight Lies GT 363 is our largest club and hottest face ever. The super-hard, maximum legal C.O.R face made of SP-700 titanium delivers remarkable distance. The classic shape and massive 363-cc club head provides amazing forgiveness. “Our exceptional knowledge of fairway woods, combined with the state-of-the-art manufacturing technology has been applied to the complete line of GT woods. - Introducing the Golf Muscle Master-the weighted training club that is balanced like a real golf club
The Golf Muscle Master is the only weighted swing trainer with 1/2 of the total weight, 38ozs, in the bottom 1/3 of the club. A regular golf club is weighted this way. - New ERC Fusion driver wins again to give Callaway golf drivers a 1-2 finish at season-ending LPGA Tour ADT Championship
The new ERC(R) Fusion(R) Driver from Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY) posted another big win yesterday. The winner of the ADT Championship used the hot new club in her one-stroke victory over Annika Sorenstam, giving the ERC Fusion Driver a 1-2 finish at the final LPGA Tour event of the season. This latest ERC Fusion victory comes shortly after Jim Thorpe won the Champions Tour season finale with an ERC Fusion Driver.
The winner of the ADT Championship recently switched from a Great Big Bertha(R) II Titanium Driver to an ERC Fusion Driver. Her extraordinarily accurate driving helped her birdie five of the closing nine holes yesterday at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla. The victory is the ninth for the ERC Fusion Driver across the world's six major professional tours since the driver was introduced to tour players. The innovative driver -- which combines a forged titanium cup-face area with a precision-weighted composite body to produce explosive performance -- will ship to selected retailers and golf shops next month.
Sorenstam used the ERC Fusion Driver in two of her LPGA Tour-leading six victories this season, including her runaway victory at the Mizuno Classic two weeks ago. She overcame an eye infection to finish second at the ADT Championship and claim her sixth Rolex Player of the Year Award. Sorenstam finished the season as the LPGA Tour leader in money won ($2,029,506), scoring average (69.02), driving distance (269.7), greens in regulation (75.5 percent), percentage of rounds under par (76.7 percent) and percentage of top-10 finishes (88.2 percent) -- all while using Callaway Golf(R) clubs and balls.
Sorenstam used 13 Callaway Golf clubs at the ADT Championship, including her ERC Fusion Driver, a Big Bertha Steelhead(R) III 7-wood, Steelhead X-14(R) Irons, two Callaway Golf prototype wedges and an Odyssey(R) White Hot(R) 2-Ball Blade Putter. Sorenstam also used the new HX(R) Tour Golf Ball and wore shoes from the Callaway Golf Footwear Collection. Sorenstam will become the first woman to compete in the Skins Game, when she tees it up with PGA Tour stars Fred Couples, Phil Mickelson and Mark O'Meara this week.
Like Sorenstam, Callaway Golf Staff Professional Charles Howell III also successfully used his ERC Fusion Driver and HX Tour Golf Ball yesterday. Howell's convincing 5-and-4 match play victory over Adam Scott helped the United States team earn a tie at the Presidents Cup in South Africa. Howell earned three points in his first international competition as a professional, including two alternate shot match victories while partnering with Tiger Woods. Howell used 14 Callaway Golf clubs at the event, including an ERC Fusion Driver, Steelhead III Strong 4-wood, a Big Bertha(R) 2-iron, Steelhead X-16(R) Pro Series Irons, three Callaway Golf prototype wedges and an Odyssey White Hot 4 Putter. - Tour Edge Bazooka Irons
As the Tour Edge advertisement says, "The beautiful Bazooka 350 J irons are truly golf’s ultimate weapon combining forgiveness, feel, and power." To deliver on this promise, Tour Edge engineers took casting technology to the limit. Pushing the design envelope, the Bazooka irons are investment cast using Hollow Core Technology, the latest development in club manufacturing. The one-piece, investment cast irons feature a deep-channeled cavity with a hollow core that produces a lower, deeper center of gravity (C.G.){see illustration below}. The hollow core allows the C.G. to be moved further back from the face for forgiveness and stability. According to Jay Hubbard, Director of Marketing for Tour Edge Golf, "Channeled, undercut cavities are becoming very popular because of the incredible forgiveness they offer to players. The concept of creating a lower C.G. and moving it back and away from the face produces a superior club." Setting up beautifully behind the ball, the 350 J irons incorporate the latest in variable face thickness. The center of the face area is remarkably thin while the outer edges are thicker. This enhances the perimeter weighting allowing for a larger, more forgiving sweet spot. Making all of this technology possible is Tour Edge’s proprietary Iso Steel . As soft as forged steel, Iso Steel has a Rockwell hardness rating of HRB90. It feels just like a forged blade. But Iso Steel’s properties allow the undercut cavity to be investment cast to exacting tolerances that are not possible in a forging. Says Hubbard, "We have combined the best of both worlds—maximum forgiveness and pure forged like feel in one iron." Features such as the undercut cavity allow more weight to be added to the sole, making it wider and heavier for an exceptionally low center of gravity. At impact, this additional weight drives through and under the ball, making it easier to hit higher, longer shots. The 350 J irons can be ordered off the rack or custom fit for loft, lie, grip, shaft type, flex, and length in an almost infinite number of combinations. With more than 500 authorized custom fitting centers around the country, a Tour Edge fitting professional can help you dial in a perfect custom set. Author: Sharon Madison - Date: July 31, 2005

- Golf Drivers, They Have Come A Long Way From The Days Of A Gnarly Stick !
The game of golf is a very old game and both the Chinese and Scottish laid claim to developing it first. The Scots generally hold that glory. They talk about a lonely shepherd playing with a club with a knotty end. This could be called the first golf driver. Golf drivers are used to hit the ball the farthest in a game. It hits the ball with the least amount of loft and is the longest and heaviest club in a set. Basically it is used to hit long, far and hard. It is also the first club usually used in a game, as it is the club used to tee off. Author: Laurie Simpson - Date: July 10, 2005
