- Santa Maria Valley continues to be a hot destination for golfers
The Santa Maria Valley is becoming increasingly well-known as a popular vacation destination for golfers. The combination of scenic courses, moderate climate, and affordability have insured a yearly return of golf enthusiasts seeking to escape harsh weather and city life. "We get visitors who are amazed that this place exists," says one local golf course manager. "They cant believe that they get the clean air, the beautiful trees and hills
and theyre paying half as much for a vacation as they would in a typical resort town." Affordability is a big factor in the areas popularity. Not only are green fees very reasonable on average, but accommodations are also well-priced. In addition, many local hotels team up with area golf courses to offer golf packages that make vacations even more affordable. Santa Marias climate and location are also a big plus. With temperatures ranging in 70s year-round, nearly every day offers ideal weather for golf. Visitors also appreciate Santa Marias rural setting and slower pace of life. The lack of smog and traffic alone lures many city dwellers to the area. The Santa Maria Valleys variety of attractions proves to be yet another advantage, offering non-golfers in the family something to do. The region boasts top-notch wineries and wine tasting, local restaurants offering a taste of the Old West with authentic Santa Maria Style Barbecue, award-winning theater, and lots of wide open spaces, beaches, scenic trails and wildlife ideal for hiking, biking and sight-seeing. In addition, a short day-trip takes guests to numerous Central Coast attractions like the Danish Village of Solvang, Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, Hearst Castle, and the Chumash Indian Casino in Santa Ynez.

- Tuga™ Debuts As First-of-its-kind, Multi-Purpose Golf Club Rest
Golfers playing on cart and cart path-only courses, frustrated with the nuisance of placing their clubs on wet, chemically-treated fairways and greens, today got relief with the introduction of TUGA™ , The Ultimate Golf Accessory. Unveiled by TUGA, Inc., the patent pending TUGA golf club rest is a three-in-one device that enables golfers to conveniently stand multiple clubs upright on fairways and around greens, converts into a telescopic ball retriever, and provides a convenient resting place for a cigar or cigarette. TUGA is ideal for players who ride or walk, as it fits easily into a golf bag alongside clubs, and is removed and replaced with clubs when needed. Further, it has a curved head that enables golfers to stand their clubs upright, eliminating wet grips, sore backs, and lost clubs. TUGA is made with a brushed aluminum shaft and firm, molded heat resistant ABS plastic heads, making it lightweight and durable. About the length of a pitching wedge, TUGA comes in a stylish silver and black color which blends nicely, and is stored easily, in a golf bag alongside any club model. The base of TUGA features a rounded steel spike that enables easy insertion and removal from the turf. TUGA's multi-purpose design allows it to transform in seconds into a ball retriever when its telescoping shaft is extended and its club rest head is replaced by an accompanying ball retriever head. TUGA's club rest head is also designed to hold cigars or cigarettes, preventing loss and keeping them off the chemically treated turf as well. "TUGA is a classy-looking and utterly practical device that fits easily into a golf bag. It's useful when transporting clubs around the course, thus speeding up play," said Dr. Rich Jacoby, founder of TUGA, Inc. "Equally important, as golfers continue to be frustrated with having to drop their clubs on wet or chemically treated fairways and greens , TUGA keeps clubs upright, dry, and clean." Jeff Hall, inventor of TUGA and vice president of sales adds, "I'm a golfer. When I first saw a club rest, I was intrigued, but thought it could do much more. I started to imagine something that looked like it belonged in a golf bag, was multipurpose, and convenient to use - almost like a modern day caddie. TUGA addresses many issues for the golfer, greatly enhancing the golfing experience." Author: Sharon Madison - Date: August 7, 2005
